I really have understand now what you was expecting. I agree with the launcher feature, BUT I don't agree for the group/ungroup feature.
This feature is clearly only for messaging pads. For all other pads you will never need to have group/ungroup feature.
Event.. I can't see the goal to show all received messages at the same time.
That's why I've suggest "previous" and "next" buttons with the counter.
We really must think about "How do we want to represent pads ?", mean for all pads.
I prefer to have only one pad per application.
