Whiteboard
The cache is intended to be local to a single api server. In this deployment pattern, I do not see how using mysql is a big improvement over using local sqlite or file attributes. We already support mysql for our actual database-y information through sqlalchemy.
That being said, I want to remain open-minded, so can you provide more information about the deployment pattern you want to enable and some proof about how it would improve Glance?

Without more information, this just doesn't quite seem necessary to me based on the nature of the how the image cache works.
