While the FreeBSD ports/packages collection has its merits, it is sometimes hard to work with it. For some of the people it is more important to have quick access to updates without having to (re)compile or tweak them.
Review existing packaging solutions and perhaps pick one which is best suited as an alternative to the ports collection.
