Wayland Support
wayland is faster , safer,simpler and kde, gnome ,enlightenment and more are starting to support it it will be the linux display server in the future this should be easy because gtk 3.12 supports it and mutter 3.12 (which gala is based on) too

Pantheon Files and Noise run properly on 4/07/14 -- xapantu
* lightdm supports Wayland, but there seems to be a problem with gnome-session being used when lightdm is in wayland mode.
* light-locker needs to be tested under Wayland. I know the lock on inactivity will not work at first, but we can see if just locking via light-locker-

From my understanding of how Wayland works LightDM wouldn't need to support it, Gala/Mutter would incorporate the Wayland server instead. I reckon the main holdup would be Plank, screenshots, and accessibility as Wayland isn't likely to implement the functionality they need. Just my two cents -- alcinnz
pantheon makes extensive use of libunity/bamf to do fancy things like badges and window matching in plank. As a canonical product bamf does not operate in wayland, instead targeting mir excusively. a solution needs to be found: either replace bamf with dbus or port bamf to wayland.
