We need to choose a screensaver and lock screen dialog to use in Luna. It's not that simple anymore.

Whiteboard
Here's what we have:
1) Stripped down screensaver and lock screen dialog from upstream GNOME 3 (http://
2) Ubuntu's fork of it with lots of functionality from the GNOME2 one (https:/
3) xscreensaver
4) experimental composite screensaver from Cream DE (http://
5) A 2010 Clutter GNOME screensavers GSOC project (http://

The overwhelming consensus on two occasions in IRC is that there should be no screensaver at all. ~codygarver
You mean black screen as screensaver? That's OK, but we still need a lock screen dialog. ~shnatsel
IIRC, LightDM was supposed to be adding a lock screen. This might be worth checking out. --DanRabbit
So we're sticking to Ubuntu's slightly bugged legacy gnome thing for Luna, and inherit LightDM ASAP. There's bug 951066 for a facelift of it but I'm afraid we don't have the manpower for that. --shnatsel
Closing this blueprint since there doesn't seem to be any actual tasks other than give the lock screen a facelift which is already a bug report. --DanRabbit
