As a part of Pantheon Desktop, there should be a Search function similar to Spotlight in Mac OS X

Maybe catfish could be integrated somehow. http://twotoasts.de/index.php/catfish/

It should search inside files like PDF's, spreadsheets, documents, plain texts, and, very important: Geary email messages

It should also search inside midori's history, shotwell/noise metatags, ...

Gonna mark this as obsolete. We're integrating new search functions into Slingshot slowly and carefully to make it a more useful search engine without introducing too much bloat and ensuring that results are accurate --DanRabbit
