Baked in OS X-like multitouch gesture support

Registered by Arjun on 2013-08-22

The technology is available. I think it just needs to be repackaged and released.

Whiteboard

The problem is : gestures are not recognized on the desktop, because it has to be done over a window. Elementary doesn't have any windows over the desktop (while others distrib have a file window to place icons).

Anything, even Gazette or Conky, allows to recognize gestures but the actual empty desktop of elementary does nothing.

Note : The problem is no longer available if you compile from sources from JoseExposito on github. Using the sources, I'm able to launch gestures even without an open window. The actual ppa must be outdated.

The alternative solutions using libinput (libinput-gestures/fusuma) itself don't have these restrictions either and are working great with elementaryOS. An "out-of-the-box-support" for various touchpad gestures would increase the OS's workflow a lot!
