IM client

Registered by Sergey "Shnatsel" Davidoff on 2012-03-29

We need an IM client that fits our UX. This includes:
* No contact list. You choose which people to contact from Dexter.
* Doesn't limit itself to text. Either has different UIs for audio and video too, or there are different apps for that.
* Auto-launched on setting IM status to any online status, auto-quits on setting it to "offline" after a timeout

Aren't we shipping Empathy for Luna, or is this for Luna+1?? -- mamemame187
It's for Luna+1, it's not targeted to Luna as you can see above ;) -- shnatsel

Perhaps we can make Bubble, like the mockup BassUltra a.k.a hcabaguio made -- mamemame187

I don't get the point of an IM client. Dexter is no more under development. Furthermore the most people use social networks for chatting. -- swizzle

Hello there,Sorry I can't find somewhere to leave a message,I just want to say:do have ever think about "pidgin" to replace empathy? As It is compatible with more modules.
You can design a nice theme ,maybe do some customs changes to make it more beautifull。Just a advice。-- a EOS lover。

I suggest to use or create a client for Slack or Telegram due their features and the OpenSource license of the last one, at least. -- carlosleci

I believe we need a native app that is a fork of Telegram so it could use the multi platform base of telegram, but have a native look and feel with elementary. And so you could add the ability to use an elementary account and an email to log in. Something like this in looks https://quassy.github.io/elementary-apps/iViewer/
