Create a native PDF viewer
Evince is bad. Period. It lacks features users have been demanding for years, such as tabs, highlighting and working annotations (evince annotations are hideous and it's hard to discover they're there), and is quite slow with search and with displaying big PDFs. The latest version (3.8.2) that's just landed in Saucy is a bit closer to the HIG, but still far off. This was rejected in this bug report (https:/

This isn't really a good use for a blueprint. You can try refiling a bug against elementary OS, but I think it will probably be marked as Opinon. Evince 3.14 is pretty nice. --DanRabbit
I beg to differ. Evince 3.14 still lacks all the features I mentioned over a year ago, and it's still bloated. It hangs frequently with large documents. qpdfview is a far superior application in every way, except that it's in qt instead of gtk3, and has certain visual quirks. I'd love to see a native elementary application with all its features (but with better annotations and proper text selection). --satchitb
