The better office suite who has never been, can be build with LaTeX
A little idea for a big project.
A recursive problem who is mentioned is that elementary OS have not a office suite.
But rather than build a complete suite, why not just build a beautiful HIG interface with a famous writer and math processor : TeX and LaTeX.
The hard work is to make a connection beetween latex and the apps, and is to build a previewing latex window, and transform latex in WYSIWYG.
But a big community of user can help to build a office suite like that.
And other apps are developed in a similar aproch (lyx, texmacs, ...).
And they have many different standard format

For exemple, we can realise an app, with intutive interface who, if it's used, add code in the begining of the .tex document. this who modify the appearance, font, color, margin, etc...
The big problem : compatibility. with .doc, .otd, ...
Some apps convert doc or odt to latex, but it's not perfect. If LaTeX is used to build an office wyswyw suite, it's a new wyswyw-file format can be apear, and all the problem of compatibility with others wyswyw suites is, of course, on the table. But, if we forget the tex processor, tex files are simply text files, who have not a particulary formating. So, read it is not a problèm, translate it is another.
Tell me if it's not too crazy.
