elementary GRUB theme
elementary should use some sort of a custom GRUB theme that matches the smooth boot expirience of the other components, like plymouth. If not, we would have to use this normal ubuntu background. I think no one likes that.

I definetly agree about a custom elementary theme to replace GRUB as it is now. The experience from power on to login should be smooth and beautiful, hiding all less relevant information (e.g. in a menu like with the "uboot" mockups) and showing you the most important options in an elegant simplistic manner. I think this implies the use of GURB, which I believe allows for more sophisticated designs. If I'm correct GRUB customization support stops at a simple background image and some typographical layouts. I already found these BURG themes made by fans; http://

I'm partial to the simplicity of the default debian grub theme http://
No, the BOOT Menu should be neutral! --gotwig
For a neutral bootloader I kind of like the way chameleon bootloader (used in osx86 builds) works: http://
I remember seeing a similar mockup way back for grub, not sure if anyone ever made it work though. --zotlan-
Found the mockups!

I think something like this (ofcourse w/o the ubuntu branding and colors) might just work with the current plymouth theme. Still not sure if this can actually be done with grub. --zoltan-
