Elementary Cloud Storage
Elementary.IO would benefit from features such as Password Sync, Background/Settings Sync, Bookmark Syncing; and even better cloud storage support. (See Windows 8.1). However one of the biggest issues with this is that file cloud server cost an arm and a leg. While one option exists to do a paid service; I think we could bypass that.
By providing a base storage api that is used by Password Sync, Background/Settings Sync, etc. We could tie into any of the cloud storage services. Including tying them into Files.
The flow would work like the following: https:/
An Elementary.IO Storage engine would detect what cloud services are installed and prompt the user for his/her choice. This would then become the default cloud service. Elementary.IO would use an App API (Dropbox) or place a folder on the cloud service (Google Drive). This is where all syncables would be stored. Preferably in an encrypted format.
Then whenever a third party app, or setting changed it would send the change to the Elementary.IO Storage Engine which would save it on the Cloud Service.
This should be simple as the Cloud Service would take care of syncing everything. You'd just have to write to a file in the Cloud Services Folder.
