We should provide a way to collect anonymized analytics about app usage and preferences. With this info, we could see how often users actually use certain preferences, which options they change, etc. Overall, this could provide a valuable insight into how users use elementary.

I had the same idea! It could really help to know e.g. how many items people usually keep in the dock and which ones and how often do they click them. Or how long it takes people to find a UI element, or what path they take to find it, or something like that. Having a remote usability testing framework would be stellar! --shnatsel
