DATIL Application Specification

Registered by Clint Grimsley

The Eagle Energy Survey Utility aims to provide a unified information system for Eagle Energy surveyors. Currently surveyors in the field have to struggle with spreadsheets and mountains of paperwork in the field while dreading the survey entry that awaits them at the end of a long day of trudging through facilitiesto ascertain their current power usage needs.

Being an application sketched in Quickly, the primary platform will be an Ubuntu portable device with a touchscreen.

 * GTK Application written in Python
 * Internal database that will sync with an external datastore (in the cloud / Internet)
 * Integration with Google PowerMeter technology as they grow their utility network

Why gdata integration?

My vision is for clients with Google accounts to be able to monitor their energy savings, and for surveyors to be able to determine certain bits of information (such as KW/Hr rates per time per region) without having to consult the clients electric bills, thus providing a preliminary estimate they can show from any web enabled computer. It would also provide a method of side-by-siding clients from the same geographic regions so that they can see others in their area benefiting from the energy saving technologies we provide.

Whiteboard

This package is suffering. I've neglected it for two months. It has no userbase, so I have no real reason to keep at it. I'm going to keep at it anyway, cuz I'm Irish and I'll deal with something being wrong for the rest of my life.

====================================

All of the dialogs have been written. They'll be refined with time and redline from Eagle Energy Services. I settled on SQLAlchemy for database connection and handling, and I can't say I'm too disappointed. I need to use SQLite to access views at the moment, because alchemy can't handle that jive too well, but it's only for listing surveys in the main window.

Current TODO: Connect all dialogs to database.
