I've also had a really hard time figuring out how to disable filename encryption with the ecryptfs_enable_filename_crypto mount option using pam (ie with encrypted HOME). Setting it in $HOME/.ecryptfsrc and /home/.ecryptfs/$USER/.ecryptfsrc doesn't seem to work.
