Jaunty xserver forward-port (due to stallment of fglrx)

Due to the ati.amd decision to stop fglrx development for older ati grafic cards and the fact that fglrx 9.3 will not suffice requirements of the new jaunty xserver 1.6 I would like to have a forward-port (not backport!) of an earlier xserver version for ubuntu jaunty.
Benefit for users running an older notebook with ati grafic card :
There would be at least one recent distribution supporting them!
