Investigate GLib replacement of mysys and strings library code

Investigate whether GLib (http://library.gnome.org/devel/glib/2.16/index.html) is a good replacement for the 10K lines of code that comprise much of the mysys/ regex/ and strings/ library code. After an initial investigate, Jay has found significant (80%+) overlap between GLib and the core library source code and thinks 20-30K lines of code can be stripped from drizzle via a careful refactoring to use GLib.
