Gui similar to MS/DOS cmd.exe's

Implement a very simple GUI to further clone the look and feel of the cmd.exe frame. This frame should have no widgets or controls other than the simple DOS-style CLI text editor widget, which will have only a few of the basic features. The one thing preventing this GUI from being included in version 2.0 is the difficulty of redirecting standard input to a textarea. The GUI will, preferably, be implemented in wxPython 2.8, but if someone joins the team who can accomplish this in another language (eg. PyGTK), so be it.
