Implement Jumplists similar to Windows 7 taskbar

Registered by Arturo Torres Sánchez

Jumplists are a new feature in Windows 7 that somehow replaces systray icons: taskbar icons have added options in context-menu, like status changing for Windows Live Messenger and Next or Previous Song in Media Player. It also adds recent documents for programs like Microsoft Office.

This has been implemented in Docky as Helpers: extensions that add functionality to dock items, like Pidgin or Rhythmbox. Another important helper is Zeitgeist integration, which was also mentioned in https://blueprints.launchpad.net/dockbar/+spec/zeitgeist-integration .
By developing helpers for DockbarX, one could achieve the functionality seen in Windows 7, which we have to admit is not useless.

Whiteboard

Matias: Will do. Sooner or later. In some form. If I get more information on HOW to implement it, it might be done sooner. I've been thinking about how this should be done in a nice way pretty much since I started working on dockbarx.
