Right now you see only the title of the window when you point on an icon with your mouse. It would be great to see a preview image of the window instead of just the text.

As you probably can guess, you're not the first one to suggest that. It can't be done without programming a new plugin for compiz.
The current compiz preview works well with dockbarx, if you hower a name in the the popup window, you'll see the preview. If you check "Show popup only if more than one window is open" in the Group Button tab in the preference dialog of dockbarx, you'll get previews directly on the button for programs with just one open window.
Phil: I think this is a nice workaround, but personally I'd say that not everyone wants to use those compiz effects.
