Always show launchers in colors
All my launchers, that are not running are light grey. If the app is running it is colored. If it is minimized, it seems to be a mixture of both, the grey and the colored icon.
Imho it would be better to indicate running apps with a triangle, like OSX 10.4 does it. Not running apps should also have a colored icon.

Whiteboard
Michael Vanderheeren: This should be a wishlist feature. As development continues we will consider changing the way the various states are reflected. There is no point in changing that now. Second, no one would like us to make something that is completely similar to the Mac OS X dock. If you want something similar I encourage you to use a good AWN theme that even simulates the stacks used in Mac OS X. On the other hand I would thank you for pointing out your problem. Should anyone else agree with the person stating this, please not it in the whiteboard.
Matias Särs: Actually, I added the theme-ability feature just to make it possible for people to make their own themes, even mac or windows 7 clones, if they want to. I might include a copy-cat theme if it's nice enough; copy things that work, improve things that needs improvement and invent a new wheel only when that is the most clever option. ;) I have no interest in doing such a theme myself, though since I believe that triangles on _running_ programs will clutter the applet more than necessary. If you use dockbarx right you should normally have more running programs than unused launchers. The gnome menu (or ubuntu-system-panel or some other applet) is fast enough that you don't have to add every single app on your computer as a launcher. Just my 2c.
Matthias Fuchs: I had an old version of dockbarx that had the strange reversed rectangle/win7 style (unlaunched apps were highlighted). After I upgraded suddenly the new theme was there and I though this would be standard. Afterwards I saw, that the minimalistic theme was set. So my fault.
Yes, a themeing engine is nice. This is the perfect solution.
