It would be nice (if possible) to open additional ssh requests (using the ssh do plugin) into a new tab in an existing gnome-terminal.

This is a great idea, though I don't know how feasible it is with GNOME Terminal. We should probably talk to one of the devs and see what they think.
It could very well be this ends up being more on GNOME to implement (an option to open terminals in a single window, instead of multiple) than a Do plugin issue. - conundrum
