Encryption of SMS

Setting this a deferred, due to multiple technical issues:

(1) It would further increase the character size, and currently we have a 160 character limit.
(2) We can't find yet a Cryptology API that is not GPL

Use Case: The feature won't be "felt" by the end-users but by the hackers.

Technical Implementation: We would be using a 3rd Party API called Bouncy Castle (http://www.bouncycastle.org/) What I'm worrying about is that the sms message limit is only 160 characters, and the encryption would further increase the existing text message character size. Also, I have low knowledge yet on Cryptology and even on Bouncy Castle, this would take time studying it.
