Extending Notalon through scripting and plugins

Define a core set of features for Notalon, which would then be extended through scripting (e.g. Python itself, or another embedded language more appropriate to the task). In the future, should the core require higher performance, it could be rewritten in C/C++ without significant redesign.

This scripting capability would then be used to implement other features. For example, searching individual databases (e.g. PubMed, ACM) for citations.
