Whiteboard
(smcginnis): Marking obsolete as this has been sitting out there for a long time. If this is still needed, please submit a new bp.
Currently cinder has already support live volume migrate in api and manage routine.
I think it may be a duplicate bp.
Please reply me if I am error on this.

Testing is underway to see if current volume migrate supports the need and is functional.

I'm somewhat unclear here, this doesn't seem like a Cinder bp "live migrate VM's from one storage to another", even if you're referring specifically to instances booted on Cinder volumes, the bulk of this effort is going to be on the Nova side and making this fit into it's migrate process.
Also this is EXACTLY the type of use case we had targeted when we talked about multi-attach and R/O. We should certainly be looking at this.

Do you suggest creating blueprint under Nova for this capability? Migration from one storage type to another is exactly what is requested and needed. If the current volume migrate does not perform that we need to pursue this.
