nova assisted incremental backup

Currently when a backup is created (even incremental backup) a full disk read is necessary except when using ceph storage.
It would be nice to determine disk changes using qcow2.
I saw that that in cinder remotefs driver exists supports to create snapshots using assist from nova, eg: https:/
It is feasible to implement this functionality?
