Visualizing, easy-to-use configuration management in Ceilometer

Registered by Sanping

To provide a visualizing, easy-to-use way to view, modify and custom configuration options for Ceilometer, instead of manually modifying flat configuration files.

• View configuration options defined in the pipeline configuration files in a web page, which is integrated into the dashboard. For example, view configuration of each tenant/instance, that is, group config information in accordance with tenants/instances.
• Modify configuration options listed in the form, including inputs, options and radios. For example, enabling/disabling meters, changing intervals, adding new source. Then automatically restart the Ceilometer service.
• Customize configuration options for specific resources; for example, get the amount of inbound and outbound network traffic in 1-minute time interval, which is generated by instances owned by a certain tenant.

Whiteboard

you might want to track this against: https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ceilometer/+spec/ceilometer-configuration-via-data-store. that said, this has been deemed outside the scope of ceilometer. we aren't a configuration management tool (this is something that the OpenStack community can create though) -- gord (17.6.15)

has there been any work done on this? i think we'd be interested in consuming this service but not sure if it should exists in Ceilometer itself -- gordc (02.09.15)
