Open menu on applet mouse-over

Registered by Jan

Similar to GNOME Shell’s hot corner: http://live.gnome.org/GnomeShell/CheatSheet#Switching_to_and_from_the_overview
That way, the menu is opened by just a quick flick with the mouse and you can start typing to search.

At the same time, accidential triggering needs to be taken into account, if you want to use the left-sided window controls for example. The feature will have to be optional.

This is possible and a good idea. I will add this to my TODO's :) , although it will be optional / configurable

Cool that it is possible. :) But yes, that should be configurable, as the GNOME Shell overview can get triggered by mistake (I often do). As soon as the clickable area resizes to panel size, it will already accelerate use.

This is now implemented in the bzr trunk version (will be pushed onto the PPA soon). Let's keep this blueprint open for additional enhancements of the hover behavior, though.

[inquata 2010-06-14]
Wow, works great. :)
An improvement on the behavior for consistency would be to also be able to close the menu when the applet is hovered again.
And additionally, if we would suppose that everybody has the applet in the top left corner: Is it possible to make only the top left pixel sensitive, like a real hot corner? Or can only the applet as a whole be addressed?

[Dart 2010-07-02]
One solution can be that when the cursor leaves the boundaries of cardapio launcher,it automatically goes off. Only if mouse hover option is enabled.

[tvst 2010-07-02]
Dart: Yes, ever since I started using the hover option myself, I've been meaning to change its behavior to make it exactly the way you describe.

But I think I will give it a few days for people to respond to this blueprint, so they can let us know if they have any problems with this change. If no one comes forth with good arguments against it, then I will just go ahead and implement it

I like Dart’s solution very much. Way better than mine because it requires less moving and is therefore faster.

Well, to hell with waiting :) I just added this to the bzr trunk
