I just read this post by Jono Bacon on the new application review process for Ubuntu:

What about getting Cardapio in it – or should we wait until 1.0?

I think we should apply. Some of the restrictions are kinda strange but it seems to me that Cardapio is eligible. It would be awesome to get Cardapio into maverick! (Well maverick extras anyway)

^ Agreed. And since we are all in agreement, who would like to be the one to go through all the bureaucracy to get Cardapio in?
I nominate "not me" :)
By the way, about v1.0: I am willing to bump Cardapio to 1.0 in a week or two, since most long-standing bugs have been fixed. I would just like to finish the places menu (mounting/

I can do that. I think Cardapio already fits the requirements except that we have to build a package that places all the application files in /opt. We may want to open a separate PPA for that so we don't mess up the current structure. (I think?) I don't know much about the official packaging requirements so I will need help with that. The other thing I don't know about is the license. I know Cardapio already has the GNU license statement included. Is that sufficient?

I will take care of »rethinking uncategorized« today. Also the icons area ready and I will check how to put them in. Visual feedback for »clarifying app start on pressing enter« should definitely be in but I don’t know how to do that (might investigate as well on that).
A general thing about the PPA: We should change »unstable« to »cardapio« and instead have two packages »cardapio« and »cardapio-unstable« in there as soon as we have 1.0. Package switching is much easier than PPA switching.
