A few questions:
- Should they be ordered vertically or horizontally?
- How can we tell which one is active?
- Do they share the text entry or not?
- What should the source list display (only one item can be active)?

Maybe the # in front of each channel in the SourceList could be displayed as an icon instead of text. Channels in the split view will have a blue icon, others are black.

The items should be the default vertical split, with a greyedout style for the one that isn't active. The text entry should be only one and it should only appear when the user clicks the channel pane they want. And about the sourcelist, find a way that goes in with the HIG for this user scenario, I think... (paulogalardi)

mIRC used MDI windows interface to display as many channels you could fit on the screen.
