On installer bugs, generally, /var/log/installer/syslog is the more interesting one to have, although it does not always exist.

Disregard previous comment, I just learned /var/log/installer/syslog is not used anymore.

Looks like a kernel bug. It's possible that burning the CD at a lower speed or cleaning the CD drive lens would avoid it, mind you.

OK, I burned a new CD at slower speed and installation completed successfully. Thanks.

My system fades in kernel panic on "reboot" command.
There are many messages, one of those "BUG: warning at kernel/exit.c:855/do_exit()"
Another is "Warning at dvivers/char/etc/2865/do_unblank_screen()"

Ubuntu 6.10 (amd64).
2.6.17-10-generic.
Core 2 Duo E6400 CPU.
I do not khow how to capture screen with syslog on reboot.

Hardy Heron 8.04 was recently released. It would be helpful if you could test the new release and verify if this is still an issue - http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download . You should be able to test your bug using the LiveCD. Please let us know your results. Thanks.
