Bug Description

Integration to both Snipplr.com & Commanlinefu.com services would be hugely beneficial.

Users could then search for popular & example commands, favourite them, post their commands.

Wait a moment, do you mean uploading commands from Clipcompanion to commandlinefu, or viewing commands from commandlinefu?

The commandlinefu API looks great; I could work on that in some days.

@Kenny Initially I was thinking of been able to search for commands as well as pull commands from Commandlinefu a user has marked as favourites in their profile.

The ability to upload would be an awesome feature too :)

I don't know if that's the goal of clicompanion, but yet it is a very interesting feature.
Also, this requires some drafting together with duanedesign. Can you provide a rough UI mock-up of how searching for commands on Commandlinefu (and/or snipplr) should look like, if possible?

We'll throw a beta to test to you at a later point. :)

Thanks!

@Kenny I'm not sure exactly how this should implemented, however I will put my thinking cap on for a UI mockup.

I really like @Kenny's blueprint idea.

It's even better than what I had in mind :)

I really like http://github.com/km0r3/commandlinefu/blob/master/python/commandlinefu.py , what would the proper way of including that in clicompanion be? We could make a seperate package for commandlinefu and depend on it or we could just include it in.

Package seems more neat but more work. Statically linking will solve the problem at the expense of messy code (and our souls!). Seems like a 'plugin' system is needed similar to gedit and rythmbox. That way we can write external mods without changing the base package; a clicompanion-plugins if you will.

It's an old feature request, and I think that it will improve a lot the user's learning experience. I'm going to start working on it (I have some free days).

Will start with the 'tab' implementation (see blueprint'). And see if it looks fine.
