Availability:
libmemcached has been in universe since karmic.
Rationale:
Most language bindings and high performance applications link to libmemcached for the advanced features it offers such as binary protocol support and consistent hashing.
We have identified it as a necessary component in main as part of our blueprint to improve "web 2.0" application support in maverick:
