Bug Description
When testing the maintenance-

I checked first with a clean db-devel. The maintenance check worked fine for lucid, but for karmic it error as follows:

It seems to assume that:
http://
exists, which it doesn't.

Looking at the date-stamps here: https:/
seems to imply that this is failing in production too, but I haven't found any failures in the logs yet.
