Network component not activated on a fully automated installation

Bug Description

Binary package hint: debian-installer

While trying to setup an automated lucid installation the install process stops and brings up the menu instead of detecting the network interface.

The installation was started with the following pxelinux configuration file:

prompt 0
timeout 10
default install

label install
kernel kernel
initrd initrd
append url=http://172.22.42.2:80//cgi-bin/boot.py/preseed -- debconf/priority=critical locale=en_US console-setup/ask_detect=false console-setup/layoutcode=us

Works fine for me with the following pxelinux configuration and the attached preseed file:
