You could try looking into the ndiswrapper project (use Windows Drivers under Linux) if a search for native Linux drivers turns up empty

This has been marked as a duplicate of Bug 202490. The original poster did not indicate which type of media was the issue; just pointed to the HP's download of the Ricoh 5-1 driver. Would you, ametedinov, please let us know which type of media is the issue for you? Linux should already support the Ricoh chipset for SD and MMC. There are separate wish-list reports open for xD and MemoryStick drivers.

I'm using running latest version of Ubuntu 8.10 with the lastest kernel. Memory sticks are also not recognized in openSUSE 11.1 x64 and other linux distributions too.

Ali Shtarbanov, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Intrepid reached EOL on April 30, 2010.
Please see this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

We were wondering if this is still an issue in a supported release? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p linux <replace-with-bug-number>

Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding.
