Bug Description

dig crashes with the following messages on running any subcommand:

netmgr.c:265: fatal error: libuv version too new: running with libuv 1.43.0 when compiled with libuv 1.34.2 will lead to libuv failures
Aborted (core dumped)

It is provided by:

bind9-dnsutils 1:9.16.48-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 amd64 Clients provided with BIND 9

And the libuv version is:

ii libuv1:amd64 1.43.0-1~20.04.sav0 amd64 asynchronous event notification library - runtime library

OS: Ubuntu 20.04

The same works on 22.04 but that has a different version of bind9 (1:9.18.18-0ubuntu0.22.04.2).

Please let me know if you need any further info.

Thanks for reporting the bug. This was also reported privately to me via email a week ago, and today I have had time to look at the issue. A rebuild of latest 20.04 Focal src:bind9 1:9.16.48-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 against libuv1 1.43.0 (backported from 22.04 Jammy) is now available at ppa:savoury1/backports (with version 1:9.16.48-0ubuntu0.20.04.1sav0). This rebuild of src:bind9 should fix the crashes, according to the information reported to me privately (by a user of my PPAs who did such a rebuild himself).

Changed in savos:
assignee: nobody → Rob Savoury (savoury1)
importance: Undecided → High
status: New → Fix Released
