Same problem with SP1... Is there no preference file or
something to tell the right paths to Inkscape? Didn't find
anything...
Inkscape seems to look after the extensions in 'path' or in
/usr/bin/perl, but the extensions are elsewhere.

Same problem both on Windows 2000 SP4 and XP Home SP2.
Even with previous version uninstalled before installing the
0.41-1 Inkscape version.

This seems to be the same fault as #1120576. See link: http:/

This is rather annoying. 0.40 works fine, but not 0.41

One of the problem I see, if that apparently Inkscape looks
for the file without the ".exe" extension. For instance, I
do have gzip in my %PATH% environment system, but under the
"gzip.exe" name... and I still get the "SVGZ Output" warning
message

This is rather frustrated especially since I've just
installed pstoedit and Skencil on my WinXP Home computer...

A solution seems to duplicate and rename the "gzip.exe" into
a "gzip" file in same location. Not good in my opinion since
if "gzip.exe" gets updated, "gzip" won't.

A solution is probably to have Inkscape to search for "gzip"
and if not found look for "gzip.exe" or something in that
line. Another solution (maybe better to avoid adding a bunch
of folders in %PATH%) is to add a configuration screen to
put the path to executables...

Yeah, I think the lack of looking for the .exe is part of
the problem. Can someone try changing the .inx files to
have gzip.exe instead of gzip to see if that fixes the problem?

Same problem on WinXP Home SP2.

I have GIMP and the latest AFPL Ghostscript installed, yet
GIMP Gradients and EPS Input are both not loading as shown
in the log above.

A few notes:

No, this is not being ignored.

Version 0.40 had the same problems, just wouldn't warn you
that thing would fail if you try them. The change in 0.41
was merely to warn up-front of the problems.

One item. SVGZ output has been folded into the main code in
the current CVS version, so that one is taken care of.

Same thing here. XP Pro - fresh install. Not SP2.

Any word, the main reason I'm trying this SW is to import
WMF and convert to SVG.

No sign of any file named WMF2SVG on my system.

Thanks.

Same problem (XP SP2)
Put ghostview directory in path and changed exe-name to gs
(without extension). Now I get:

Erweiterung "EPS Input" Laden fehlgeschlagen wegen die
Abhängigkeiten konnten nicht aufgelöst werden.
Dependency::
  type: extension
  location: path
  string: org.inkscape.input.ps

Thanks

ditto WINXP Home Svc Pck 2

I have Perl, Image(Perl) Magik, Ghostview, GIMP + installed.
Doesn't see any of them.

I did get it to see Perl & Image Magik and can see the .ai
open command.

I edited the ai_input.inx file to my specific location of Perl.
C:\Program Files\Inkscape\share\extensions

<dependency type="executable"
location="absolute">c:/perl/bin/perl.exe</dependency>

But alas the program dies on execution of the command, so I
still may not have it quite right.

I cannot get the other extensions that depend on "path" to
function.

I would so much like to try that version before 0.42 comes

Yes, I still have this bug. I grabbed the latest version
from win32-snap:

http://inkscape.org/win32-snap/Inkscape0506251800.zip

I'm also running on Windows XP SP2. I mainly wish to get EPS
Input working but no matter how I try to get Inkscape to see
my Ghostscript installation, it can't. I tried renaming the
gswin32c.exe executable to gs.exe and gs, but none work. I
tried hard-coding the executable path into the eps_input.inx
file, no success.

On my Red Hat 9 system, I had to install gs, pstoedit, and
skencil to get EPS Input working properly. But on my Windows
machine, I can't even get Inkscape to detect gs.

I did finally manage to run the ps_input.inx conversion.

- I had to create c:\tmp which is used to store temprary files

- I installed pstoedit (with the svg exporter included) into
c:\Program Files\pstoedit

- I created the following ps2svg.bat into share\extensions :
  @"C:\Program Files\GhostScript\pstoedit.exe" -f svg %1
c:\tmp\tmp.svg > c:\tmp\out
  @type c:\tmp\tmp.svg
  @del c:\tmp\out
  @del c:\tmp\tmp.svg

- ps_input.inx is then :
<inkscape-extension>
    <name>Postscript Input</name>
    <id>org.inkscape.input.ps</id>
 <dependency type="executable"
location="extensions">ps2svg.bat</dependency>
    <input>
        <extension>.ps</extension>
        <mimetype>image/x-postscript</mimetype>
        <filetypename>Postscript (*.ps)</filetypename>
        <filetypetooltip>Postscript</filetypetooltip>
    </input>
    <script>
        <command reldir="extensions">ps2svg.bat</command>
    </script>
</inkscape-extension>

It works well.
