Bug Description

Binary package hint: debian-installer

Maybe this is a feature rather than a bug but in my eyes it breaks user convenience:

When booting the live cd you will normally choose a different language. Afterwards nearly all is localized except the keyboard layout chooser which still presents the names of the layouts in English. Actually I think that this should definitely be localized too, so after changing the language presenting names of keyboard layouts in a language-specific form.

I'm taking a look into this. Let me know if there's more to be done beyond what's in the description, or if you have any particular thoughts on how it should be done.

The problem here is that when the users chooses another language ,that isn't English, the keyboard layout dialogue is in English on both columns. Screen shot is attached.

Needs to be fixed in GUI installer & oem-config.

Screen shot shows what OEM config does today in Jaunty, Eponal (Spanish) is the chosen language, but the column dialogues are in English.

This bug was fixed in the package ubiquity - 2.1.13

---------------
ubiquity (2.1.13) lucid; urgency=low

  [ Colin Watson ]
  * Don't crash if something races with ubiquity or ubiquity-dm to create
    /var/log/installer (LP: #458806).

  [ Evan Dandrea ]
  * Support the new translated keyboard names in console-setup
    (LP: #127528).
  * Provide an option to determine the keymap from a decision tree.
  * Add missing parameter to exception in bin/ubiquity.
  * slideshow_get_available_locale is an instance method (LP: #510710).
  * The frontend always has a db attribute, per r3665, so revise the check in
    debconf_communicator. Thanks Colin Watson.
  * Add missing function argument to Install's prepare.
  * Automatic update of included source packages: console-setup
    1.34ubuntu7, grub-installer 1.49ubuntu2, partman-uboot 3.

  [ Mario Limonciello ]
  * Remove another reference to a long dead xserver-xorg debconf question.
  * Don't try reconfiguring LRM, it's been superceded by DKMS based packages.
