I think this may already be implemented by the work zygmunt and I did on lava-create-master:

An example that I just ran on the vex press:

root@master:~# lava-master-image-info
Master image UUID: 778d3c06-1c63-11e2-bcd8-0800278f570a
Root file system version: linaro-precise-nano-lava-20121022-276.tar.gz
Hardware pack version: hwpack_linaro-vexpress_20121022-378_armhf_supported.tar.gz

root@master:~# lava-device-info
LAVA Device Type: lava:vexpresstc2
LAVA First Boot UUID: 43980394-1ceb-11e2-8fb2-0002f7004735
LAVA Boot UUID: 724ae772-2341-11e2-8fb2-0002f7004735

Or is this something else?

Yes, the master image itself already has this. This bug is about adding\
