Cloud Storage for data
Instead of another SQL database solution, could we instead afford to store users data in the cloud. Then multiple installations could access the same data.

Whiteboard
What "cloud" and how would this be materially different than allowing the user to specify a Dropbox or Google Drive or MS SkyDrive folder?
[pb] It wouldn't. Mostly, you need to define what the specific data set would look like, and how you would access it. If you choose to use a data set that is independent of the storage medium, then you need to figure out the access mechanism (something better than Beersmith hopefully). Traditional dedicated cloud type service would likely include an API that lets you access and manage. Dropbox would require some work to create an API that would allow the access and management.
