Automatic updating feature for bIRC, by using cURL or Wget. This should be an optional feature, which users can switch on or off in the config section. The option to switch between the stable and development version could also be beneficial.

After pushing the additions of Rev129 (future) and their Critical-Bug Fixes I will push an early draft into the dev branch, I will link to the design later on

I just took a look at how Launchpad organizes the download-links, its horrible!

thats the url for the rev129 taken from the top-page, I cant abstract it or guess the path of future releases... nor do I want to code a crawler which parses the code-page of bIRC

The recent Rev130 has an update-client inside, its not totally bug free yet but its good as first draft.
Please use and test around as possible, Vars to set are: update="true" and branch="main" or branch="dev" - The update will be stored in ~/.bIRC/update.sh so it wont kill your working copy if it bugs, the update-client will keep track of updates and check if its necessary, if you need to flush its "memory", remove ~/.bIRC/update.log.
