Removing status (the first) column
That first column that indicates song state is useless and obsolete. Besides it's kinda hard to see. Just make the playing song row in bold text.. It will be more distinguished from the rest and will save some horizontal space.

It's kind of hard to see yet it's taking up lots of horizontal space?
I can see your point, but it's a bigger change than one might think and would reduce performance as well (mark up text in treeviews is slow).
For now, it will stay as it is.
Answer: When using different theme than elementary's, the icon loses itself in certain themes. Any other possible solution?

That column is used for more than just a playing icon, it is used to identify new podcast, saved locally, missing file, progress on import, completed icon. Will be left in --Scott
