Lense preferences and settings dialog for Dash
http://
Explains the basic premises of what I am suggesting.
1. Settings Dialog has a DASH option
2.In the Dash option there is a Lense prefenece, or simply Lense option...
3. The User can switch between the Internet (labeled 'Website') Tab and User's computer (labled 'Local')
4. The user can then specify the exact Websites to use for the different Lenses...
Eg. Shopping Lense has a drop down list of different various shopping sites, amazon, buy, ebay, alibris, etc....
Search Engine lense has google, yahoo, bing, duckduckgo, ixquick, etc.....
Video Lense has youtube, amazon instant video, archive.org, etc...
Could add more options for music (check boxes to use ubuntuone music store, AND archive.org AND amazon, etc...)
All of these can be easily enabled/disabled with a switch
AND ALL can be manually edited if the user wants to add something not listed
Can also include a softwarecenter link to ADD more lenses?(once the lenses thing becomes more what it is growing into)
If a webkit is used for the dash that stores cookies, or whatever have privacy settings, and the do not track option.
Have local options be much the same.... ability to choose which folders, etc... maybe just integrate Settings->Privacy into this settings dialog??
