Applet persistent configuration not in gconf

Applet configuration options are all saved in gconf. When applets are realeased (new version), my dock configuration is lost. I mus't redo nearly all (on applets). Morever my gconf is now verry ugly, many keys are unneeded (old version).

I think persistent configuration, must not be saved in gconf, or at least must be exportable. Or plugin id (used for key in gconf) must be stable (not autogenerated).
