Targeting Healing and Offensive Weapons Separately
A unit using a healing weapon (a weapon set with negative damage) calls several hardcoded functions. Any such unit uses its primary weapon to target allies, even the healing weapon is listed as its secondary (thus leading to the primary, even if it deals damage, firing at allies).
This suggestion calls for allowing technotypes to treat healing weapons separately than normal weapons. This means that the unit can be both ordered to attack an enemy unit, or use its other weapon to heal an allied one.
This would enable a greater range of unit functionality (e.g. a combat medic or combat engineer, an apc with a flak cannon and a healing gun, a tank that debuffs enemies and buffs allies, etc.)

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:
It might be called into question how autoacquire will behave in regards to this new information. I thought of a few possible alternatives:
1. The unit will auto-acquire using its damage dealing weapon, but only use the healing weapon when explicitly ordered to do so.
2. The unit will first auto-acquire valid targets using its primary weapon, then auto-acquire with its secondary weapon when the primary has no valid candidates.
3. Add a flag allowing for choosing between several behaviors.
(tidbits from each of the suggestions could be mixed and matched to create the optimal solution)
