Automatically use continuous mode for long DAQ recordings

DAQ recordings longer than about 5 seconds should run in chunks, plots should update incrementally.
Or maybe even for all daq recordings? Is there any penalty for doing this? Probably a little extra time since we have to watch carefully and stop the task when time is up.
