NetApp direct to storage drivers for cinder

The current NetApp drivers for iSCSI and NFS require NetApp management softwares like OnCommand DFM etc. to be installed as a mid layer interface to do management operations on NetApp storage. The direct drivers provide an alternate mechanism via NetApp api(ontapi) to do storage management operations without the need of any additional management software in between openstack and NetApp storage. The idea is to implement direct to storage drivers achieving the same functionality as already submitted NetApp drivers.
